“Fuck”, she mutters and wonders if she can pretend that she hadn’t woken up.

I had the worst dream last night. Most of it is pretty confused but the part I do remember had me and the Girl in a poorly built house trying to stem the zombie tide. These were not your average B-movie zombies either. They were grotesque and horrible and hungry. It was awful. I woke up screaming. J had to comfort me and tell me a story to make me go back to sleep.
Yes, I know that I am an adult. I couldn’t shake the imagery without someone distracting my brain.
That happened at 3 AM this morning. Sleep after that little gem of a dream was light and dozish, at best.

(insert title here)

What a long weekend.

J’s grandfather is very ill. Very, very ill. Its bad enough that the doctors informed the family that he had about 72 hours to live. So we packed up the car and headed down to Brownsville so J could make his farewells.
Brownsville is on the very southern tip of Texas, btw. Its about a 6 hour commute from where we live.
We left about 730PM Friday night. I drove until we got to 77, then turned the driving over to J. Ya’ll must know how much pain I was in to let him drive. At night. ::shudder::
He didn’t do too badly, I must say. He knows that his driving makes me nervous as hell and went out of his way to keep me calm. We made a couple of stops so we didn’t actually make it to the house until 3AM.
After some brief confusion we sorted out where we were going to stay (the house was packed full of family so we opted for a motel down the road).

At any rate, we were there all weekend. I didn’t know the man so mostly I kept out of the way and tried to make myself as useful as possible. I did get to meet that branch of the family so that’s all good. I wish it had been under better circumstances though.

We drove back yesterday – getting home around 5:30 PM or so. I didn’t get to drive at all thanks to a mistake with food the day before. I was still on narcotics (read:pain medication) so J wouldn’t let me drive. Chicken!

Alrighty people, pray/send energy/do a dance/whatever for me today. I’ve got a job interview (a real job! with money! and benefits!) for a software testing gig. We desperately need the money so if ya’ll think about it – the interview is at 1:00 PM.

My computer ate my CD. No really; it ate it. I put it in, it was fine. It started playing and doing what it was supposed to do. I merrily went back to what I was doing.

I finally managed to get the drive open. Out came tiny shards of what used to be a lovely CD. *mourn*

Plus, there appears to be more shards stuck up into the drive itself ’cause the door on it won’t close. (insert favorite expletive here) So now the drive door is hung open. Its like my computer is sticking its tongue out at me.

All I gotta say is that the company who contacted me yesterday for a possible job better do as they promised and call me for an interview today. ’cause today has already turned into a *bitch* of a day.

Dallas is a LONG way from Austin you shit-heels.

The appointment card said 7:00 PM, Monday September 20. So we arrange for bebe-sitting. We drive to DFW. We go to the Doctor’s office. And wait and wait. Well, OK. We only waited 13 minutes. But still. No one was there.
And do you know why?
No, neither did we.
So we drove home, picked up the kiddo and went to bed around midnight/1 AM last night.

I called ze doctor’s office this morning. They had re-scheduled the appointment. Did the bother to call and tell me? NOPE! Oh, the nurse says she did. But there was NO messages on the answering machine. Zip. Zero. Nada.
(insert random screams of inchoate rage here)
I’ve got a NEW appointment this Friday at 10:45 in the AM. Not sure how I’m gonna arrange that ’cause we’ve only got ONE car and the child has to go to school and the hubby to work.
Fuckity, fucky fuck.
Other than *that*, Mrs Kennedy – how was the drive?

Birthday! Birthday! Birthday!

Saturday (tomorrow!!!!) is my sweetie’s birthday and party. We’re having it at our house which means that I’ve actually got to do some serious cleaning today.
Actually, its not all that bad. It just looks like a house where the main cleaning person has been ill would look. (well, duh!)
I will get it all done. I will get it all done. I will get it all done. (rinse, wash, repeat)

At any rate, I’m looking forward to the party. Some of the folks on the guest list I haven’t seen in a long time. Plus, the general party theme is gaming (of course!). Its supposed to be a potluck/gaming day. I know that Lance is going to run a Marvel game; if we get done with that I am may run a Talislanta one-off adventure. Just in case, I’ve got something suitably evil in mind.

PS…if you’ve been left off the invite list – let me know. You’ve got my email. *smooches!*

I talked to the nice apartment manager today. I am angling for a discounted apartment – say at $250 – $300 a month – to setup a massage office in.
THEY will get to say that I am their resident/onsite massage therapist (which lets them compete with some of the trendier, resort type complexes around here). And I get a good rate for an office with a waiting room, a kitchen, a bathroom w/shower facilities and a short commute to work.
These are not small considerations. *crosses fingers*
I hope, hope, hope that they do the smart thing and say “yes”. Its a good deal for all involved. Plus, I even will offer discounted rates for those folks who work for the complex.

The only hangup is a legal one. TAA might not let me run a business out of the apartment. The manager is looking into the legalities of it for me. They have a whole legal department that they have to run things through before ANYthing happens. *sigh* It could take up to a month. The timing works out well if they say yes. I should be completely healed from the surgery; or at least enough to go back to work full time as a therapist.
