I know this puts me dangerously close to the whole slobbering fangirl persona but I just gotta say this: WTBBQF?

I never, never envisioned Harry & Hermione as a couple. Siblings seperated at birth, yes. But lovers? Holy fuckturds, NO!

It has been patently obvious that Harry & Ginny and Rob & Hermione were the couples as envisioned by Rowling.

As for the drivel on that site about Rob & Hermione sniping – and therefore not being capable of being a couple, I reiterate – HUH?

I can clearly remember being that age and getting into fights with someone because I didn’t have the adult language necessary to explain my feelings.

Sorry for the rant and esp on a stupid subject like this but, sheeesh!

This has been a public announcement from a post by sclerotic_rings. You may return to your RL any minute now.

Any minute…

  1. I know several folks who are huge fans of HP, and they’ve just rolled their eyes at the drama. One of them even writes a very popular fan fic, and she’s not even troubled by this, so….

I haven’t read the latest book yet. It’s all I can do to keep up with homework at the moment. But I agree with you as far as the direction the plot’s been headed in.

  2. Holy cow. Given the way the author of that letter writes it, you’d think that Hermione and Ron’s pairing would be a justifiable cause for committing sepukku. And the unmitigated gall of telling an author she has an obligation to please her fans…man, I really hope Rowling had a good laugh when she read this.

Poor woman…All she ever wanted to do was write a young-adult series involving a boy wizard and see it published, and now she has to deal with packs of drooling, obsessive bumblefuckers taking her books far more seriously than they have any right to. Jee. Zus. CHRIST. ;-p *sigh*

  3. I am VERY offended by by “Early on, we learned that you studied classical literature and mythology, and loved Jane Austen and other great authors. Not the average children’s author, then, are you? ”

Excuse me? Oh, sorry, I forgot, children’s authors are just hacks who aren’t good enough to write “real” books. This is just detestable; a good children’s book will make a lifetime reader. A good children’s writer can’t resort to pop culture memories or sexual references when the plot bogs down. A good children’s book is many times harder to write than an adult novel.

Does this idiot think “the average children’s author” never progressed beyond Dick and Jane?

  4. Lessons I’ve learned from watching (science) fiction:Come up with a rough outline of the entire series, from beginning to end. When you end the story, it ends. When someone dies, they are dead.Stay true to the outline.Encourage fandom, but stay true to the outline.Do not allow additional stories in comic books or paperbacks unless they tell a story from within the outline. No sequels. The epic story has already been written and ended. Let’s not milk a dead horse.Smile when the publisher or producer makes a suggestion, and then file it appropriately. Stay true to the outline.Basically, stay true to your original concept. Be a bastard about it if you have to. (JMS was well known for being a bastard when it came to adhering to the spirit of his story outline, even in the face of actors leaving.)

  5. I agree…I NEVER saw Hermione and Harry…I haven’t read the 6th book either, but when Luna appeared, I thought it would be her and Harry…people really should just enjoy books for what they are instead of making it their world.
