ganked from various folk

I know very little about some of the people on my friends list. Some people I know relatively well. (Some I know too well – ha!) I read your journals, or we have something else in common and we chat occasionally. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you for your interest in my words.

But here’s a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: “Ah, there’s so and so…they listen in rapture to the love-music of she-turnips.” (Think of it as your Christmas present to me.)

I’d love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal and see what gems of knowledge appear.

  1. Umm, what don’t you already know about me ?

Ok, right now my favorite meal at work is Hormel’s Swedish Meatballs. For some reason, I find these things very tasty, and at $2 a meal, cheaper than eating out.

  2. Hrm…well, here goes. My real name is Paulette, I live in NJ, and you randomly friended me (I think through coworkers_suck) so I friended you back. I’m married. I work for a crazy lawyer and for a bookstore. Most people think I’m out of my mind because I’m pretty much always happy. I like to wear things with stripes on them, eat anything that isn’t tied down, and take offense when accused of either lying or being anorexic.
    Newest nickname = Ferret
    Newest hobby = sculpting
Most recent misfortune = loss of license

  3. I’m not really close with my family any more, simply due to the geographic distance between us causing us to grow apart relationship-wise. So, the gaming group is really my surrogate extended family to a large degree. I don’t think there’s anyone at the gaming table that I wouldn’t take a bullet for, with the possible exception of Dagan’s knock-off Strawberry Shortcake doll.

  4. I have Asperger’s, but wasn’t diagnosed until I was 25. At five i read at sixth grade level, at thirteen I was reading Einstein, at fifteen in the original German. I should probably go back to school and get a Liberal Arts degree. Words have been my entire life and I married my wife because we don’t need words.

  5. My taste in music is possibly the strangest of anyone I’ve ever met – on an average day, I’ll listen to indie rock, dub, showtunes, teen pop and emocore, possibly with a little country or arena rock thrown into the mix. On the bright side, my playlists tend to make my roommates find some reason to leave the apartment, which means I can listen to my music louder and sing along. 😛

  6. I’m a hypochondriac and germaphobic in general. I secretly want another tattoo between my shoulder blades, but it’s not likely to happen. I also have generalized anxiety disorder and a unspecified mood disorder.

  7. I friended you because we used to work together and I enjoyed chatting with you. Also, we turned out to have a friend in common who was not our coworker, which is neat. I’m a vegetarian, unemployed due to missing work due to depression (go me!) and about to divorce my parents.

  8. I live for The Daily Show, The Soup, and AFV.
I was also born out of wedlock and almost given up for adoption.
I have a REALLY hard time with left and right.
I never learned to ride a bike.

  9. I’ve lived in South Korea, Panama, Croatia, and Bosnia. In each case, I learned the native language.
I have a mental block spelling “their”. Or is it “thier”? I can never remember no matter how hard I try.
I never learned how to tie my shoes the way most people do. I just cross them over, make loops in the ends, and cross them over again.

  10. Lesse …

I have a horrid phobia of needles which does me zero good when I injure myself and refuse to let the hospital poke me.

I live in Texas but am from the Seattle area , hence I pretty much hate where I live … but the people are starting to grow on me *grin*

My weight fluxuates in mass quantities based somewhat on my relationship status.

  11. Ummm. Errmm.

They wanted to put me in 3rd grade after I took an IQ test while in kindergarten. (I was 1 point short of being an official genius. GENIUS, I tell you!) My mom refused because she was afraid that the older kids would trample me socially/emotionally, and she was probably right. But school was boring as frozen snot until about 11th grade.
I used to get up and watch my brother sleep, just to make sure nothing interrupted it. I once peed on the carpet near his bed because I really had to go and I didn’t want to risk waking him up by leaving. Apparently I reasoned that peeing was quieter. And didn’t even really consider the next morning when my mom would have to discover this. (I just recently told her about this; her response was “I always *wondered* what happened!”)
    22 is my favorite number.

  12. What can I mention that I don’t spew about on a regular basis?

My major consuming desire these days is: I want kids! Working for a school district and having a month off in the summer means careful kid timing for maximum maternity time. So, I must wait 6-8 more months.

I am a huge geek with my own in-house Linux server. I played Magic The Gathering in high school, I always hung out with the geeky gamer guys because they were the only guys interested in me. I married one. But, I’m much more of a gamer than he is!

During Christmas time I dust off my midi keyboard, hook it up to my Linux box, and pound out some Christmas tunes. Badly.

    Merry Christmas!

  13. I’m attracted to voices like other people are to things like hair or butts, or whatever else. I could never be with someone who had a voice or accent that I couldn’t stand.

    =P

  14. I am an overly plump and overly curious Canadian girl living in South Korea. I am a lady gamer, both table top and computer games. I am a romantic. I am a metal smith and a sensualist. I have an obsession with bees. I like tattoos and taboos. I am clever, but lazy. I am kind but judgmental. I like going bare foot. I like patches of sun and fluffy blankets and strawberries. I dislike gloomy days and scratchy sweaters and radishes.
