Not enough Dimetap in the world, yo

Dear Loving Boyfriend-Type*,

Thank you EVER so, for the snot monsters currently living in my sinuses. I appreciate your generosity in sharing. The next time you kiss me while you’re sick, I will hack something off with a chainsaw.

No Love,
~Grumpy Mare

I can’t take anything with pseudoephedrine in it because I am sensitive to it. So breathing is going to be a “learning experience”. Woo.

  1. Well if you’re going to get sick, sounds like at the least you have a partner experienced in delivering the health back asap 🙂

Mine that silver lining for all it’s worth!

By the by, coffee is an excellent decongestant. Other than that, I generally dose up on calcium supplements while avoiding dairy. What with the bump in need for white blood cells it can help speed recovery since those are made in your bones. 2000mg of vitamin c spread out over the day (stress and caffeine take a toll on it). Other than that, lots of spicy soups – hot spices kick the immune system into gear for reasons I can’t recall, and soup is just tasty stuff. Lots of green tea as well. All the fluids from the tea and soup should help clear ya out.

    Hope you feel better!

Oo. Almost forgot my other fave treatment! A sauna! Germs etc live best in a relatively narrow temperature range. A sauna can sometimes take them out of that range and either weaken or kill them. Also can help with the breathing. This assumes of course you don’t have a fever, which would make a sauna a bad idea 😉

  2. Have you tried Mucinex? It’s only got dextromethorphan and guaifenesin in it and it REALLY works for me when I am congested. Not a drop of pseudoephedrine in it.
    Feel better!

    *hugs*

  3. Speaking as someone viruses flock to because they know that spending time in my body evolves them to something newer and stronger, which is then passed on to my poor husband, don’t kill him!
