  1. My Cricket too! I sent her to school with a brain-buster bento lunch … spicey tuna-fish, rosemary triskets, a small salad, string cheese, pear chuncks, and animal crackers.

They get the kids so worked up over these stupid dang tests though , it’s retarded. I think they haven’t covered anything but TAKS practice tests and related stuff for the past 4 weeks solid.

    1. And thats really a shame. (The teaching, not the lunch, that sounds yummy!)

Teaching to the test means the kids miss out on so much more that they could be learning. In addition, test anxiety and not having a wide range of experience means that teaching to the test actually lowers test scores!

Standardized tests are the stupidest things that the education system has come up with.

    2. She took a turkey/cheese sammie, baked Doritos, string cheese, dried blueberries, sliced apple.

      *worries*
I’m making her a good dinner tonight after we go out for a bike ride.

  2. TAKS is a load of crap.

I’m sure Summer will do fine though. Just make sure she gets ice cream tonight. It’ll help her recharge…regardless of the fact that she likely won’t need recharging.

    1. I am making her 2nd favorite meal (we had spaghetti not too long ago, which is her first fave)::

      Grilled Chicken
      Mac n Cheese
      Steamed broccoli
      Cake

in this case, the cake is NOT a lie.

  3. They had a pep rally at my older son’s school for the kids taking the test, brought cheerleaders in from the high school and everything.

As someone who did very well on standardized tests all through school and who couldn’t stand pep rallies in high school, I wonder just how much good it did.
